Town Makers guides, programs and manages the implementation of Great Places. |
From Main Streets to Town Squares to Market Halls, cities across America have used these gathering places to help provide a rich retail and social experience to residents and visitors alike - these places are often called "Great Places".
Main Streets - the original shopping streets, and can integrate Town Squares and Market Halls into an organized system. Town Squares - used as the centerpiece for gathering places, the Town Square can be a focus for retail and dining activities but is also the perfect location for assembling events and celebrations. Market Halls - these structures have been around for centuries and are a very flexible large building form that helps gather a wide variety of vendors and tenants, while allowing for common dining and seating. And today, the "Phase ZERO" concept has begun to catch on as an option for quickly implementing one of these types of great gathering places (see definition below). |
What is a "Phase ZERO" project? |
A Phase ZERO project can be described as an 'appetizer plate' of future retail, dining, and entertainment uses, all developed using temporary facilities that can be cost effectively installed and quickly dismantled and moved once the permanent land uses are economically feasible.
